Iphone 6 Specs Comparison: Apple Vs Android’s Best!

iphone6
Its not even end of September and it was already an awesome month for Mobile Technology and Fans. We have seen the launch of Samsung Note 4 and Edge, the Xperia Z3 and the Meizu MX4 and IUNI U3. And of course the unveiling of the sixth generation of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus. While iOS and Android are targeted at very different user groups, its still very interesting to see how that latest Apple Phones compare to the Best what Android has to offer. Especially considering that the newest iPhone 6 and 6 plus is now equal in display Size.

Of course on Paper Specs Comparison wont give us the whole picture, but its still very interesting to see how iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus compare against the Android Competition. In this review we compare the most popular Android Smartphones against the newest iPhone Family Members. We also included the popular OnePlus One, “Flagship Killer” and Nexus 5.

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Displays

Apple is doing their best efforts to sell that their relatively small Retina Standard Displays are up to the competiton. In 2014 we have seen more Full HD 1080p Displays and with LG G3, Note 4 and others even the launch of 2K Quad HD Displays on Android Phones. Comparing pure size wise the new iPhone 6 still does not play in the same league as its Android Competitors, but the new Iphone comes closer. The New iPhone 6 sports a 4.7 inch display, thats an increase of 0.7 inch compared to the iPHone 5S, but is still smaller then most of the competition with 5 or 5.2 inch average we see with most Android Flagships.

Resolution

Comparing on resolution the Iphone 6 comes in last, compared to other popular Android FlagShips with its 1334×750 resolution on 326ppi. This is the same resolution and pixel density we saw on the iPhone 5s. Most Android FlagShips are in the range between 401-538 ppi, even recent chinese FlagShip Smartphones like the IUNI U3, having more then 530 ppi

For the iPhone 6Plus the story seems a bit different. The 5.5 inch Phablet looks more like what we are used too from Android Flagship Phones, especially other phablets like the Note 4. The iPhone 6 Plus finally gets Full HD 1080p resolution on an iPhone with 401 ppi. This better fits the expectations we are used to in 2014, while the pixel density is still on the lower end of the scale comparing to other Android Devices.

iPhone 6 and 6Plus Specs and Hardware

Comparing Apple’s Hardware and Specs to Android phones is not exactly easy. If you compare purely on paper its very obvious that the 3GB of RAM and quad or Octa Core processor should beat Apple without breaking a sweat.

Of course Apple CPU is 64bit, which might give the processor a tiny edge. The main point though is that it was always Apple’s strategy to optimize their OS, iOS, for optimal user experience and minimal hardware usage. Apple Fans will argue that the Dual Core A8 processor with 1GB of Ram will give the same or even better user experience on iOS then a Snapdragon 801quadcore with 3GB on Android. But are Apple Fans right? There are points to both sites. Apple’s iOS is definitely very efficient and optimized to work with less specs, but I think that a better CPU, GPU and additional RAM still would have made a significant difference.

Even if Apple sold out again Millions of iPhone 6 in shortest time, why not really Blast Apple Fans with a mightier CPU and more RAM? Its 2014 after all and the Dual Core, 1GB of Ram Combination seems quite outdated. One bright point are the graphics though. Early Graphic Testing and Benchmarks show that the A8 and GPU are very promising and might even beat the high end Android Phones in terms of Gaming.

iPhone 6 and 6Plus Specs Camera

To compare Apple Camera is somehow similiar to comparing Apple’s CPU and hardware vs Android Phones. Comparing purely the specs does not give the full picture. Normally iPhones produce very decent pictures, even if the sensors dont seem as advanced as on other Android FlagShip Phones.

iPhone 6Plus Camera Sample

From first test we can see that Apple apparently significantly improved the camera sensor for shooting experience and final result, we see better color rendering and less haze. The iPhone 6 PLus even gets OIS, unfortunately the iPhone 6 still sticks with digital stabilization. Summarizing I expect the Camera Quality to be comparable to most Android FlagShip Smartphones, its hard to say if its a bit worse or even better at this stage.

There is one new feature on the new Iphone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that is worth noting – NFC. NFC is pretty much given on a lot of Android Flagship Smartphones, but its a first timer for Apple. Apple has introduced a new “Apple Pay” System that is using NFC Technology for Mobile Payments.

Apart from that the extras, like fingerprint sensor and other features seem to be pretty much the same as on the iPhone 5S.

iPhone 6 and 6Plus Summary:

As it stands now the newest iPhone 6 Generation has caught up in a few very important ways such as screen size, OIS and the implementation of NFC. They also introduced a new iOS 8, but overall as far as we can tell there is not too much new here either.

The newest iPhone 6 generation seems to be definitely a step in the right direction, though if we compare specs to specs Apple definitely has a long way to go to catch up. The real world performance could be a very different story as always with Apple. So far we have seen a lot of Hands on Reviews, that are mostly praising the new iPhone 6.

I think that the newest iPhone 6 generation is definitely a very interesting addition to the Mobile Technology World. Iphone’s finally have made the jump to big displays and are easier to compare to Android FlagShip Devices. And the iPhone 6 are selling as HotCake – no doubt.

Personally i wish they would have packed some more hardware in the Iphone 6 and 6 Plus – beefed them up, its 2014 after all. Also after all im still a fan of customization and the whole open source developement System around Android. Compare this to forced U2 on your iCloud and you know what I am talking about.

What do you think of Apple new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 PLus? Can they compare to the latest Android FlagShips?
