OnePlus One will get Android 5.0 Lollipop in March says One Plus Founder Carl Pei
OnePlus One Users will finally get OnePlus’s Major Android Update, with Android Lollipop 5.0 and CM12S in March. Carl Pei made it very clear that Lollipop will come for the OnePLus One around this time next month.
While this is good news for many OnePlus One users, originally OnePlus promised to bring an official update for the One just 3 month after the official Google Android 5.0 Launch last year. There is actually quite a big discussion on Carl Pei’s Twitter Account why OnePlus promised their 90days deadline, According to Carl Pei the delay is caused by “proprietary drivers, code, QA, certifications,”
Both OnePlus’s own OS, Oxygen OS and Cyanogen Mod 12S will come to the OnePlus One next month, based on Android Lollipop 5.0. Because of the Cyanogen Inc decided to not support OnePLus One devices in India in favor Of Micromaxx, OnePlus created their own OS for all international markets. At least for now CyanogenMod 12S will be available in parallel with Oxygen OS because of the original two year contract that OnePlus and Cyanogen Mod had.
Admittedly this is all a bit confusing, but the main message is this. In March you will be able to update your OnePLus One officially to CM12S from CM11S. Also if you feel adventurous you can try out OnePlus Oxygen OS, both will be based on Android Lollipop 5.0. Of course you can get an Alpha Version of Oxygen OS and CM12S right now already, but we recommend to wait for the official OnePlus Launch.
