After the launch of Xiaomi Redmi 2 with a price of $110 (equivalent Xiaomi Redmi 2 price in Malaysia is RM414), the company continues releasing Xiaomi Redmi 2A in China for less than $110, just $80 (about RM300) to be specific. So, with this price, what is Redmi 2A capable of?

Xiaomi’s product this time is super budget-friendly with a 1.5GHz Leadcore L 1860C SoC Qualcomm, not the Snapdragon 410 SoC processor as Xiaomi Redmi 2. On the other hand, the new handset includes a 4.7-inch HD screen, 1GB RAM, and 8GB of storage. In addition, microSD card slot, 8MP rear camera and 2MP front shooter, and 2,200mAh battery are also found on the device. As for the OS, the latest MIUI 6 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop with run the whole smartphone. Five color variants can be added when the phone’s on sale: white, pink, yellow, grey and green.

One key selling point for Xiaomi Redmi 2A is its price. Initially, it came with a retail price tag of 599 Yuan ($96 or around RM360), but now Xiaomi gives a discount of 100 Yuan to make it even more affordable than before. You can purchase one with just around RM300. Hopefully the phone will be launched in Malaysia with Xiaomi Redmi 2A price in Malaysia varying about RM300. Though, there’s no word made for such situation at the moment.
