Chinese smartphone brands: Oppo and Vivo lead the market
Huawei and Xiaomi lost their top positions of being the leading Chinese smartphone brands. Oppo and Vivo had surpassed these companies to lead the market in Q3 2016.
Top Chinese smartphone brands: Oppo is leading
As we all know that Huawei and Xiaomi are two of the most popular Chinese smartphone brands. They are very dynamic in producing smartphones, especially Xiaomi. These companies alternatives dominate this huge market for a long time. However, these brands lost their top position into Oppo and Vivo’s hands. Oppo and Vivo are now leading the Chinese market.
According to Counterpoint Research data, Oppo is now one of the fastest growing companies in China. In Q3 2016, this brand takes 16.6% smartphone sale market shares. This percentage is 1.5% more than the Huawei’s and 6% more than Xiaomi’s. Vivo is standing in the second place with 16.2% market shares. This is the huge leaps of Oppo and Vivo since they just had 9.9% and 8.2% market shares in Q3 2015 respectively.
Huawei and Xiaomi are taking the third and fourth positions. Huawei has 15% shares which are lower than the last quarter (16.9%). Like Huawei, Xiaomi also gets into the same situation when their sale market shares are just 10.6%. This number in Q2 2016 is 11.2%. The fifth spot belongs to Apple with 8.4%.
Q4 2016: who’s gonna be the leader?
In Q4 2016, the race of taking the first position in Chinese smartphone market is gonna be intense. This period of time, many brands are bringing their new great products to the market. With the masterpiece Mi Note 2, Xiaomi could probably take back their phone sale market shares and the top leading brand position. However, this brand should also watch out for Oppo and Vivo. Oppo has just launched their latest flagship camera phone Oppo R9s Plus while Vivo is working on Vivo X9.
