Moto G Play (2024) specs

Motorola just launched its new Moto G Play (2024), the latest addition to its budget-friendly Moto G series. Especially, the 2024 edition of the Moto G Play, announced Tuesday, is cheaper than last year’s $168 Moto G Play 2023. Moreover, it comes with some improvements and upgrades this year. Generally, the device comes in a matte finish, a sapphire blue color, and a water-repellant screen. Besides, Motorola appears to be pitching this phone as a kid-friendly device, touting the screen’s Corning Gorilla 3 glass and its IP52 certification.

Now, let’s take a look at its specifications! First, Moto G Play (2024) specs bring a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD touchscreen with 720×1600 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. Second, the phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 chipset, which doesn’t support 5G. This is a new surprise because the previous one used a MediaTek chipset. Third, this mobile is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Under the hood, the operating system running on this gadget is Android 13. What about the Moto G Play (2024) camera system?

Instead of three cameras, Motorola only outfitted the Play with a 50MP sensor (f/1.8, 0.64μm). Notably, this is a significant upgrade from last year’s version, which had a 16MP rear camera. Still, Motorola took it a step further to include HDR and Phase Detection Autofocus to help create balanced, well-lit images. The main rear camera is expected to have several shooting modes with 8x digital zoom, including night vision, Portrait, Live Filters, Panorama, Pro Mode (w/ Long Exposure), Dual Capture Photo, Burst Shot, and more. Furthermore, the front camera got a bit of a boost to 8MP, featuring Google Lens integration and AI-powered Active Photos that detect smiles. Regarding battery, the device has a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 15W wired charging. Also, the company claims it will survive for 46 hours on a single charge. Unfortunately, Motorola hasn’t yet introduced 5G connectivity to this device, which seems to be a significant drawback.
