Smartphone concepts that will NEVER come true
Before an official smartphone debuts, usually we see their its concepts first, which is very beautiful and glossy. However, it hardly ever comes true! So, in this post, we would like to introduce 5 best smartphone concepts we wish were real!
1. Samsung smartphone with a bendable display
Samsung smartphone concept with a bendable display
In 2013, Samsung really surprised people when announcing that they would produce devices with bendable displays. It means that you could fold the phone and put in your pocket. Besides, the bendable display tech was also said to be last longer than other current techs.
There was time that people believed Samsung would soon release a Galaxy Note equipped with a bendable display at the end of 2013. Though, eventually, it turned out to be Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and somehow made consumers disappointed. Yet, fortunately, Samsung Galaxy Note edge and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge have been able to regain people’s trust and we hope that the bendable display will come true some time in the near future.
2. Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime
Last year, the flagship Samsung Galaxy S5 did not bring much success to the Korean giant. Therefore, many Samsung fans built up another variant of Galaxy S5 called Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime. Basically, Samsung Galaxy S5 design would come with a glossy metal cover, completely different from the plastic one on the original Samsung Galaxy S5. And of course, the Samsung Galaxy S5 specs were also more powerful. For example, the phone would sport a Snapdragon 805 chip, 3 GB RAM and a 2K screen. At that time, some said that Galaxy S5 Prime would be a great response to LG G3.
Nonetheless, the Prime did not get launched, but we think that Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge introduced this year have done better, instead.
3. Lumia 1030/McLaren
After a lot of mid-range smartphones running on Windows OS, it seemed like users really wanted a high-end handset with an awesome camera to come last year. As a result, Lumia 1030 (aka McLaren) concept was born. Accordingly, the Lumia 1030 would own a PureView snapper capable of up to 50 megapixels, much higher than Lumia 1020 in order to satisfy those who love taking photos.
Moreover, Lumia 1030 would also support short-pulse LED flash 4th generation instead of Xenon. It would help you capture things better at night. Sound good?
Unfortunately, Microsoft claimed that the Lumia 1030 project was officially canceled after that.
4. HTC O2
After the failure of HTC One M9, leaked information about HTC O2, a new sub-brand of HTC, has started to spread away. It was also predicted that the company was planning for a debut of a flagship sporting top specs, which would help increase their competing ability on the market.
In terms of HTC O2 Specs, there would be a Quad HD screen, MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core chip, 3GB or 4GB RAM and a camera with f/1.9 and OIS support.
Nevertheless, at the moment, some sources say that the HTC O2 plan has been stopped without specific any reasons. And no one knows if it can be continued in the future or not. Perhaps the appearance of the mid-ranger HTC One A9 with plastic design is a replacement. Don’t you think?
5. Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra
Last but not least, we have Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra. It was phablet planned to be launched last year. Moreover, many experts were so sure that Xperia Z4 Ultra was worth waiting most this year due to the amazing Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra Specs and super thin bezel design.
Spec-wise, the device would feature Qi wireless charging and Exmor RS 20.7MP sensor with 26,500 ISO, including recording 4K videos. Though Sony stated that they would get rid of the microSD card slot and increase the internal storage to 32GB.
Interestingly, at that time, the phone was rumored with the pretty name Sony Lavender, but in fact, Lavender is coded for the current Sony Xperia C5 Ultra. It shows that the Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra would never come to life.
Actually, there are a lot of phone concepts existing nowadays and some of them are super cool and potential enough to come true, like the Nokia Swan, ASUS ZenFone 3, etc. So, hopefully we will be able to see it someday.
Beautiful Sony Xperia Z5 Premium hands-on: World’s first 4K display!
Besides Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact, Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is also the name that has mentioned for many times recently. It is proud of being the world’s first smartphone sporting up to 4K resolution.
Specifically, Sony Xperia Z5 Premium uses a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen with 4K resolution and super high 806 PPI. However, the problem that makes people concern about the phone is quite similar to the prob of TV 4K. It is the fact of lacking original 4K contents, which will force the machine to upscale the images and videos to 4K and normally their qualities will not be as good as the original’s.
Apart from the display, other Sony Xperia Z5 Premium specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip, 3GB RAM paired with 32GB of expandable storage, a fingerprint sensor built in the home button and Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. On the other hand, it also comes with the IP65/68 standard and a combo of 23MP rear and 5MP front camera. Like Z5, the main snapper supports recording 4K videos with 12,800 ISO, autofocus speed of 0.03s and 5X zoom without reducing much the pic’s quality.
In terms of Sony Xperia Z5 Premium design, we are aware that it is quite thicker and heavier than its sibling Sony Xperia Z3 Plus when measuring 7.8mm and weighing 180 grams. This may due to the 4K feature and larger 3,430mAh battery.
For a general view of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium specs, please see the below table for more information:

Now, let’s take a look at some Sony Xperia Z5 Premium hands-on pictures. You may be wowed by its beauty 😉 !
Sony Xperia Z5 23MP camera scores 87 DxOMark points – Best of the best
Though there are still some people doubting Sony Xperia Z5‘s ability of taking pictures, recently DxOMark (the trusted industry standard for camera and lens image quality measurements and ratings) has graded this flagship’s camera and the result is very good.
The Sony Xperia Z5 launch happened not long ago and has caused many discussions about its true abilities, especially the camera. Most think that the shooter is not as good as what the company says. However, the latest announcement of DxOMark may change your mind.
Yes, they ranked Sony Xperia Z5 as the number one smartphone in the list of devices capturing the most beautiful photos. As we know, Z5 has a 23 mega-pixel rear snapper whose sensor measures 1/2.3 inches and sports a maximum light sensitivity/ISO of 12800 and 192 Autofocus Points. Though, it seems like Sony forgot to equip their product with OIS – an optical image stabilizer. What a serious mistake!
Sony Xperia Z5 23MP camera scores 87 DxOMark points to become best of the best!
Nonetheless, when it comes to the DxOMark ranking, Sony Xperia Z5 camera was able to score 87 points, becoming the best smartphone used in taking pictures. It even left the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge behind by 1 point distance and some other well known handsets such as Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. That is cool!
Explaining for this, DxOMark said that they based on the phone’s super-fast autofocus, good exposure, pleasant white balance and preservation of details in low-light. In terms of video, DxOMark highly evaluated the impressive stabilisation using SteadyShot with Intelligent Active mode with good autofocus despite no OIS.
Of course, it is quite sure that Sony Xperia Z5 will once again be compared the new Apple devices: iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus in the near future. Yet, with such a high score, Sony can totally feel safe and confident of their flagship’s ability of taking pics this year. Let’s wait and see!
Anyhow, what is your thinking about Z5 camera? Is it worth the first place?
This is why 4K display on Xperia Z5 Premium will NOT exhaust the battery
At IFA 2015 held in early September in Berlin, Sony launched their latest beast Xperia Z5 Premium with amazing 4K display. This made Sony Xperia Z5 Premium the first smartphone in the world to feature such display. Sony fans in particular and technology fans in general are getting so excited with the new device. However, there is a very common concern that everyone has: will the enormous screen resolution exhaust the battery faster and reduce the usage time of the handset?
In order to answer to that question from users, Sony has spoken up to confirm about the working regim of the 4K display. According to the Japanese company, this Premium Xperia Z5 will only display 4K resolution for photo and video viewing in order to provide users with the best experience ever. With other apps and fuctions, the Xperia Z5 Premium display will automatically turn back into Full HD resolution to even keep the beautiful display yet save battery and maximize the usage time.
The Xperia Z5 Premium battery capacity is 3430 mAH, and with Sony’s confirmation about the guarantee for maximum powering savings, users can now feel more ensured to experience the newest technology from Sony.

Xperia Z5 Premium price and availability in Malaysia
Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is now carrying a 5999 yuan price tag. This mean the Xperia Z5 Premium price in Malaysia will be around RM 4K. Do you think this is a worthy price to experience the 1st 4K display on smartphone? And are you convinced by Sony’s explanation about the battery usage that will provide you decent time to work on and enjoy the smartphone?
It is very likely that the Xperia Z5 Premium Malaysia will be available in the market starting November.
Sony mocks Apple over iPhone 6S battery life
The new Apple iPhone 6S launch has been the hottest news during these past couple days with new features and the unchanged battery life.
With the impressive features that Apple has always come up with and also with the unchanged battery life that would last users an entire day, would there be a weak spot for this new line-up?
Surprisingly, this question was answered by Sony, who tweeted a question: “Hey Siri, what about the battery life?”and provided a link on how to switch to Sony from iOS, it seems that Sony might have just found the sore spot for the new Apple iPhone 6S line-up. Sony claimed that their new Sony Xperia Z5 line-up provides users with 2 days worth of battery and that’s something the Iphone 6S is not capable of.
Not only Sony has been boasting about their new line-up, but also Samsung is attacking the Apple’s new product. Samsung has been tweeting about its latest Samsung Galaxy S6 line-up and how similar it is between the Apple iPhone 6S specs and the Samsung’s products. These companies have always been competing over their products every time new products release.
In general, different products and line-ups have their strong features as well as sore spots, as in the case with the Apple iPhone 6S battery life, but what are your opinions? Which phone would you prefer using? The ones with cooler features that might require more charges or the ones with less features but might last you an entire day or two? Which would be beneficial for you as a user?
Waterproof Sony smartphones have to stay away from water?
This seems like Sony is not confident of their high-end waterproof smartphones though they feature IP68-certified resistance against water and dust. The company even refuses to fix broken Sony devices under warranty. Honestly, it kind of disappoints those who believe that they can comfortably use Sony waterproof phones underwater.
Explaining for this situation, Sony says that the IP ratings of these smartphones show that the phones are able to work after they are submerged under the water in some strictly controlled experiments. Moreover, they are carefully put in a tank and taken out after a certain period of time (said to be 30 min.).
However, such conditions cannot always happen in real life. For example, if you use a Sony waterproof smartphone in a swimming pool, it has to deal with some harmful chemicals. In addition, swimming and using phones at the same time can make the machine suffer from different water pressure levels, which is not what Sony can guarantee.
The new policy is applied to the latest products of Sony such as Sony Xperia Z3 Plus, Z4, Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium. You should bear in mind that those guys will be okay with raindrops, spilled drinks, or being used with wet fingers but not underwater.
Well, in conclusion, Sony has just claimed that people should not use waterproof phones underwater. Then, we guess that Sony also should change their ads for those handsets. How about you? What do you think about the news?
Sony Xperia M4 Aqua: 2GB RAM, 13MP and waterproof for RM 900
Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is such a flagship that is loved in so many international markets. The device was introduced earlier in MWC in Barcelona, Spain. After super long wait, finally, Sony Malaysia has launched the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua to our local market.
The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua official price in Malaysia is really attractive for such a popular flagship: Rm 919. Users can now find the device in some Sony stores and hopefully it will hit the shelves of some of our favorite online distributors soon.
Sony Xperia M4 Aqua: good deal for a great price
When we first got to know about the M4 Aqua and all it had to offer, we expected it will be cheaper than the HTC One Mini 2 but more expensive than the popular Huawei Honor 6. Now Sony officially announced the M4 Aqua price in Malaysia, with only RM 919, it turned out to be cheaper than both. The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua even has similar specs to the more expensive Samsung Galaxy A5.
In terms of Sony Xperia M4 Aqua specs, it is pretty powerful. It is backed by a 64 bit, octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor and 2GB of RAM. As we collected reviews from users around the world who had experienced the handset, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua, unlike the Xperia Z3 and Z4, has not been reported with severe overheating problems. Users say it will become warm/slightly hot sometimes, but if you pour some water on the back, it will become good again. Also, Sony promised to provide solutions soon.
Sony Xperia M4 Aqua: What we love about the babe
Sony featured really nice design for this M4 Aqua also. The smartphone comes with a super slim body that looks elegant and premium in your hands. The most interesting thing about this beast is that it looks like a high-end smartphone and carries a mid-end price tag.
Talking about Sony Xperia M4 Aqua cameras, it is another babe from Sony which has really good sensors that work well even under low light conditions. The only thing to notice is that, similar to other Sony Xperia smartphones, it takes several seconds to start and get focus for the subject. But once you capture, the pictures will always look great whether it is a selfie or a landscape.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium comes with 4GB RAM compact version
Sony Xperia Z5 comes with three variants: the Z5 Compact, Z5 and Z5 Premium. However, some news circulating online have suggested that Sony will out another variant based on Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, called Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Premium. The name suggest it is a compact version of Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. Moreover, guess what? It comes with a huge 4GB RAM.

According to the rumored specs, Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Premium display is 4.6”. However, the resolution will be downgraded, resulting in a FHD screen. You won’t get 4k display for this version, but hey, you get an upgrade in RAM.
Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Premium boasts a huge 4GB RAM, much like its Z5 Premium brother. However, Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Premium battery is only 2900mAh. Still, it is 200mAh larger than that of Z5 Compact.
Sony Xperia Z5 family will likely have more members
Hopefully, Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Premium camera will be a 23MP sensor. This is almost the most notable feature on Sony Xperia Z5 variants. Moreover, its hybrid autofocus with the incredible speed of 0.03 seconds will totally win any camera battle.
We do not know Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Premium release date and pricing yet. However, by looking at how much the original Z5 costs, we guess Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Premium price in Malaysia will be around RM 2700. Not cheap, but relatively reasonable for a Sony flagship. Moreover, let us hope that the phone will not be an exclusive in Japan.
Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Plus spotted in live photos with 23MP camera
There are not many days left before the flagship Sony Xperia Z5 launch, but some live photos of this hot item has been suddenly unveiled lately. It is expected that both Sony Xperia Z5 và Xperia Z5 Compact will be introduced at the IFA 2015 next month.
According to the XperiaBlog, all the new pictures of the Sony Xperia Z5 were posted on Sony’s social network page. However, they were soon removed not long after that. Yet, we know that once something is on the internet, it will never just disappear. The pics have absolutely been saved and shared to others. That’s why we have them here on Price Pony 😀 .
Apart from that, we also got an interesting piece of information about Sony Xperia Z5 camera. It is capable of up to 23MP with 1/2.2″ sensor, f/1.8 aperture, improved autofocus and optical image stabilization. Furthermore, there is a high possibility that the cam will also be equipped with the same fast autofocus system we see on Sony Xperia M5. Though the live images can give us some hints about the Sony Xperia Z5 design, we still cannot identify the whole look of the machine. But one thing we notice is that maybe the design will not be very different from that of the current Sony Xperia Z3 Plus.
As we mentioned in many previous posts, Sony Xperia Z5 specs will probably include a 5.2-inch Full HD or QHD display with an octa-core Snapdragon 810. Strongly supporting the handset will be 3GB or 4GB. And Sony Xperia Z5 price is also predicted to be quite high. Nonetheless, people still care about it.
Not only the Sony Xperia Z5 but also its Premium or Plus version is spotted in some photos. Sony Xperia Z5 Plus used to be rumored to pack a 5.5″ 4K (2160p) screen and now it will sport the same 23MP shooter as the Z5. Despite no confirmation for the photos of the alleged Sony Xperia Z5 Plus (or Premium), the pictured device is quite convincing as it has the company’s design.
