Xiaomi Mi 6 is coming soon, no dual-curved edges!
Xiaomi has started the year for by introducing the Redmi Note 4X. However, it is the Xiaomi Mi 6 that people are actually hyped about. Recently there are some new reports about this phone. Let’s take a look!
Xiaomi Mi 6 is coming soon, no dual-curved screen
One feature that people are speculating the most about Xiaomi Mi 6 is the display. It has been thought that the phone will likely have dual-curved screen, as it is the trend for flagships right now. However, one Weibo user, @Mocha Socialist Workers, has disproved the statement. In his post on the Chinese mini-blogging site, he stated that the Mi 6 will have a flat 5.2-inch 1080p TFT LCD display, not an OLED one with dual-curved edges. He also said that the Mi 6 will not use Xiaomi’s own Pinecone chipset yet, but will stick with Snapdragon 835.
Now, it is worth mentioning that we should not take his statement for granted, since Xiaomi has not given any official statement regarding Xiaomi Mi 6 specs. The phone may have only the flat display, but there may be another variant Mi 6 Pro or Mi 6 Plus that will have curved edges, like the vast differences between the Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus. Also, even though the Mi 6 will use Snapdragon 835, the Pinecone chipset made by Xiaomi may be presented on later Xiaomi phones, like the Mi 6s or Mi Note 3.
Another interesting report has also surfaced: the Xiaomi Mi 6 will not have ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is a technology that allows phones to read fingerprints anywhere on the screen, without having to include a dedicated scanner on one point of the phone. Even though this technology is developed by Qualcomm with close cooperation from Xiaomi, it seems the latest Xiaomi phone may not benefit from this yet, and we will still have to wait a little.
Xiaomi Mi 6: Still need confirmation from Xiaomi
Those are just external reports, and just just be taken with a grain of salt until Xiaomi’s official statement. Xiaomi Mi 6 price is specualted to start from the usual 1,999 yuan (~$290, or ~RM. 1,300). Are you looking forward to the latest Xiaomi phone?
