Today XIAOMI has finally announced its long awaited Xiaomi MiPad. The 7.9 inch Mi Pad is the first tablet by Xiaomi and offers an impressive display with an 2048 x 1536 screen resolution. Thats a 4:3 aspect ratio with a pixel density of 326 ppi. Xiaomi Mi Pad matches the Apple’s Retina Display with that solution – very exciting.
The 7.9 inch device reminds strongly on the iPad Mini but in glossy and lively colors instead of aluminium. It looks a lot more playful and exciting. And yes the resolution is the same as awell with 2,048×1,536 pixels.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad is powered by NVIDIA’s new Tegra K1 mobile processor. The Tegra K1 utilizes four Cortex-A15 cores with 2.2GHz and a fifth complementaty core in a 4+1 array that NVIDIA has innovated with their Tegra processors. The Main feature of the new Tegra K1 used in Xiaomi Mi Tablet is the processors GPU, that features 192 Kepler-based cores, being 1.5 more efficient then other mobile GPUs in the market.
The Mi Tablet runs on MIUI. MIUI is based on Android Kit Kat 4.4.2 and Android Stock Version. It has a lot of visual and design tweaks, like the removment of the app drawer. According to the VP Barra they wanted to make it as easy and simple as possible, while still allowing for customization by senior Android Users. The UI on the Mi Pad reminds on iOS 7 in a good way and Apple needs to be prepared for this heavy competition.
Xiaomi Mi Tablet will be available in two different variants, with 16GB and 64GB internal memory. The good news is that both versions are extendable via micro SD up to 128GB. The Mi Pad has a 6700 mAH battery, which is very impressive. Xiaomi promises standby time of up too 1300 hours.
Xiaomi’s Mi Pad has a 8 Megapixel Rear Camera and a 5 Megapixel Front Camera for Video Chats or Selfies. Both Cameras do have f/2.0 aperture to get more light into the pixels.
By far the best point about the Xiaomi Mi Tablet is the price though: 1499 Yuan and 1699 Yuan for the 16GB and 64GB variants – which is RM776 and RM880 in Malaysia. That is an extremely attractive price for the Xiaomi MI Pad with Retina Resolution and quad core processor. So far we hear that the Mi Pad will be available as beta device from June in China, but not yet clear when and it comes to Malaysia or goes officially on Sale.
